Right, before we set off. You should know who's in the car with you.
CanGo is built in Kenmare. But the idea first got said out loud at the other end of the world.
Standing at the Cape of Good Hope, trying to recall the history of the place, we found ourselves wishing someone would just tell us. Here, while we were actually looking at it.
The world is covered in stories, and almost everywhere they're silent.
Then we settled in Kerry, where there seemed to be something worth knowing around every bend.
CanGo is for anyone who wants to know more about where they are: the visitor on a first loop of the Ring, and the local who has driven the same road for years.
The strand with no signpost. The townland whose story has barely travelled beyond it. The shop that has fed the road for sixty years. The village you hadn't planned to visit: colour on the houses, mountains behind them, the sea somewhere beyond, and ordinary life carrying on in an extraordinary place. And the famous places, told properly.
See the Kerry you came for. Find the Kerry you couldn't have planned.
A good local guide beats anything in your pocket, ours included.
We're for the parts of the day no guide is standing in: the drive between towns, the detour taken on a whim, the evening with nothing booked.
And when a person does it better, our job is to bring you to them.
The friend who picks you up at the airport, in your pocket. That's the job.
We tell the history and the legends both. We're working towards every story carrying the name of someone local who checked it and said: yes, that's right.
And one day, we hope to follow the stories between the places too: the people and events that disappear down one road and turn up again somewhere else. The more you travel, the more the pieces join up, and the place starts to feel a little more familiar.
We're putting the first journeys on the road now.
Join the passenger list and we'll let you know as new places and stories go in.
And we keep our promise about quiet.
